From 12 September onwards, physicians who hold a PhD can once again submit a proposal for the ZonMw programme Clinical Fellows. A Clinical Fellowship is an individual grant for medical specialists who want to build a bridge between research and clinical practice in their own discipline. Animal research often fails to predict human responses and raises ethical concerns about the morality of using animals for experiments. In 2027, ZonMw will launch a pilot for a new grant variant within the Open Competition line, the OC-M. Talented, creative and newly promoted researchers can now apply for a Veni grant. This funding instrument of the NWO Talent Programme offers person-specific funding. They can further develop their own research idea over three years. The funding amounts to a maximum of EUR 320,000. It is possible to submit a proposal until 3 September 2024.
