Preproposal 2023 Vidi round open for applications
Mandatory preproposal
This round, the Vidi will work for the first time with a mandatory preproposal. The preproposal includes a CV with an academic profile, a selection of ten pieces of important output (broader than just publications) and a short research idea. The mandatory preproposal means that researchers do not have to write a full (time-consuming) research application right away. The measure saves a lot of time for both applicants and assessors. Thus, this working method contributes to limiting the application pressure and reducing the workload of researchers and reviewers.
The Vidi in brief
The Vidi is a personal grant and part of the NWO Talent Programme. A Vidi grant of up to 800,000 euro gives researchers the opportunity to set up their own team around an innovative line of research. The 2023 Vidi round is open to researchers who received their PhD title between 1 October 2015 and 2 November 2023. Preproposals can be submitted to one of the nine submission windows: the NWO domains Science, AES and ZonMw each have their own submission window. The domain SSH has six submission windows, one for each of the disciplinary assessment panels.
ZonMw organises the NWO Talent Programme for the domain Health Research and Medical Sciences
Annexes to the preproposal
The preproposal is accompanied by a mandatory annex, the embedding guarantee. However, applicants can also submit an optional annex: the literature list. Following the example of the Vici round, Vidi applicants can submit a list of up to ten pieces of literature closely related to the research idea. NWO will use this list in the search for suitable external referees.
