The second round of the new programme ZonMw Open Competition will open On 20 February instead of 23 January. The deadline for the first phase of project ideas will be 16 April 2020. The deadline for submitting full proposals will also shift, namely to 15 September 2020. The most important reason for these changes is a substantive sharpening of the call for proposals.

NWO has awarded Veni funding of up to EUR 280,000 to 188 promising researchers from the full breadth of science. This will allow the laureates to further develop their own research ideas over the next three years.
The introduction of a two-stage assessment procedure will streamline the application process for the entire Talent Scheme. It acts as an online guide providing specific information needed in each of these steps, thereby increasing the broad use of animal-free innovations.- ZonMw encourages collaborations within (research) projects in order to increase the impact of grants. Hormone therapy can help many people with breast cancer. These drugs unfortunately do not work for every patient and even those who do respond often develop resistance over time. Patients with metastatic disease usually need to switch to other, often more intensive treatments.
