This call for proposals is aimed at developing an approach that can be used in Dutch government policy to more comprehensively consider the impact of that policy on human and planetary health.

Who can apply
Proposals are to be submitted by the main applicant on behalf of the consortium. The main applicant has participated in both collaborative workshops of ‘Building blocks for integrated policy on Planetary Health’.
There are four categories of participants within a consortium:
- Main applicant;
- Co-applicants;
- Cooperation partner(s);
- Co-funder(s) (optional).
A consortium should consist of at least a main applicant, a co-applicant and cooperation partner. Grant applications are submitted by a main applicant on behalf of the consortium. The conditions for each participant are explained in chapter 3 of the call for proposals.
This call for proposals urges knowledge institutions and community stakeholders to jointly develop research proposals. The submitting consortia work in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary manner and call on a wide range of expertise, from the biomedical to public administration. The composition of the consortia ranges across the entire knowledge chain, which means that the programme brings together fundamental, applied, process-based and practice-oriented research, and responds to the knowledge needs of the national government and other relevant social parties. Co-applicants affiliated with social organisations can only act as co-applicant under the de minimis regulation.
What for
The NWA programme Building blocks for integrated policy on Planetary Health is aimed at developing an approach that can be used to ensure that Dutch government policy more comprehensively considers the intended and unintended impact of that policy on both human health and the global environment. The focus is on developing a widely applicable approach for Planetary Health Impact Assessment (PHIA). It is anticipated that this approach will build upon existing frameworks for Health Impact Assessment (HIA) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). These are previously developed methods to assess the impact of policy measures on human health and the environment.

What to request
The available budget for this call for proposals is € 2,865,000. The maximum duration of the proposed project is 5 years. Within this call for proposals it is expected that a maximum of 1 proposal will be awarded funding.

- Any new organisations must also be added to Mijn ZonMw;
