Quality instruments and quality policy

Quality instruments support healthcare professionals, the patient and their next of kin in choosing the right care option. We therefore encourage the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of these instruments by developing decision aids, guidelines, patient information and measurement instruments.

Quality funds

Umbrella organisations of healthcare professionals and patients receive quality funds to translate knowledge and professional insight into quality policy and guidelines for their approach in practice in the case of specific care demands.

Linking research with guidelines of medical specialists

ZonMw and the Knowledge Institute of the Dutch Association of Medical Specialists are working together to clarify which knowledge that emerges from research can be included in guidelines in the Dutch Guidelines Database. This database offers medical specialists fast and efficient access to relevant, up-to-date guidelines based as much as possible on scientific evidence. Based on guidelines, the doctor and the patient together select good and affordable care for the patient. Read more about the collaboration concerning medical research and guidelines.

Innovation of guidelines

How do you keep those guidelines up-to-date and applicable in practice, given the rapid developments in national and international knowledge and the availability of data from medical practice? We are funding 9 projects that provide knowledge to improve the current relevance, accessibility and practical usability of guidelines.

Improving quality in nursing and caring

With various programmes, we encourage the development, implementation and updating of guidelines and standards for the nursing and caring professions. View the results, experiences and current projects.

Quality and transparency in allied healthcare

Each day allied health professionals provide the best possible care for their patients. To make the quality of this care evident, visible and assessable for patients and society, ZonMw contributes to initiatives for a sustainable improvement in the quality of allied healthcare.
