Preparation after awarding (DMP templates)
On this page, you will find information on how to choose the proper DMP-template for planning your data management.
Preparation after awarding
For who?
- For the project leaders (grant recipients) who are affiliated to research organisations.
- For project leaders who are affiliated to healthcare and/or other practice organisations, and have their own research group, or collaborate with a research organisations.
When?
- Immediately after the grant proposal is awarded funding and before the start of the project.
Points of attention in the preparation
ZonMw places the responsibility for good data management largely by the researcher, the data stewards and the research institute. They choose a template that (1) covers the essential components of data management, and (2) may in some cases be supplemented with references to local facilities of the institute (for example, the data storage) and agreements in the research community. The following options fit these starting points.
Options for choosing a DMP template
- Use the DMP-template of the research institute where the project takes place or with whom there is a collaboration. The template that is used, needs to adhere to the Science Europe Core Requirements for Data Management Plans. See here for more information.
- If your institute does not have a recognised DMP template then you can use the DMP-template of ZonMw. You can find that at DMPonline. Ensure that the most recent version of the DMP template is used.
- In the case of collaborative programmes between ZonMw and NWO you should follow the instructions in the associated call for grant applications and/or award letter.
- In the case of international research programmes, you should follow the instructions in the associated call for grant applications and/or award letter. These instructions may concern:
- The most important requirements of Science Europe concerning data management plans and reliable repositories, as included in the Practical Guide to the International Alignment of Research Data Management.
- The Open Science instructions in the programme guide for Horizon Europe grants (2021).
