Public version of ZonMw Annual Report 2022

The public version of our 2022 annual report is available from today. The report provides a glimpse of our activities and projects over the past year.

Over the past year, we worked with our commissioning bodies – the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and the Dutch Research Council – and with other researchers, care providers, carers, policymakers, clients, the public and experiential experts on solutions to complex issues in healthcare. Together, we ensured that knowledge had more impact in improvements to the health and wellbeing of us all.

In 2022 several new initiatives were launched with a focus on implementing knowledge and innovations for appropriate care in healthcare practice. We also made extra investments in research into and measures to tackle three conditions – Alzheimer’s, obesity and cancer – and focused particular attention on lifestyle as a form of treatment, to reduce the burden of disease and the cost of healthcare.

The COVID-19 programme was continued and a new Pandemic Preparedness Knowledge Programme was established, with a focus on preventing, combating and controlling possible future pandemics.

The public version of the annual report takes a closer look at several topics. It also highlights projects that were awarded a ZonMw Parel (Pearl Award) in 2022, as an extra mark of appreciation. The timeline gives a varied selection of news items issued in 2022, which show the broad base of ZonMw’s operations, working with knowledge to secure good health for all.
