International Collaboration Network EViR comes to ZonMw

As of January 1st, ZonMw have taken over the secretariat of the international Ensuring Value in Research (EViR) Funders Forum from the University of Southampton for the next 5 years. After 5 productive years in which EViR has grown into a professional organization with a broad membership base, the University of Southampton will turnover to ZonMw.

What is EViR?

EViR is a global network of healthcare-related research funders focused on promoting high-quality research with significant impact. The network has been in existence since 2015 and was founded by several prominent organizations, including ZonMw, with the aim of enhancing global collaboration among researchers funders. More than 50 organizations are currently part of the network.

Véronique Timmerhuis, directeur ZonMw:
'EViR covers all the broad topics that are relevant to our work, such as Open Science, Impact, Sustainability, Diversity, and Implementation. We collaborate with other funders to exchange practices and develop new approaches. EViR brings together colleagues from different countries working on these topics and facilitates collaboration. Taking over the secretariat aligns with our intention to be a learning organization on the broad issues that are important to funders. It's great if colleagues are joining in on this.'

How does EViR work?

EViR has formulated Guiding Principles that the members have committed to. On several of these topics, working groups have been established where colleagues from member organizations collaborate: they exchange practices and experiences, organize meetings, and publish reports. Twice a year, we hold an online or in-person meeting, and we also conduct webinars and chatter sessions.
