Advance announcement: Call for proposals for follow-up research into ME/CFS
Funding will become available in early 2027 for collaborative projects that contribute to expanding fundamental knowledge of the onset, progression and/or underlying mechanisms of ME/CFS as a multisystem disease.
About the call for proposals
The supplementary grant is intended for additional, in-depth, integrative and/or comparative biomedical analyses of existing data and/or biological samples from at least 2 ongoing research projects within the ME/CFS Research Programme. These analyses may also contribute to expanding knowledge of the diagnosis or treatment of ME/CFS as a multisystem disease.
With this supplementary grant, ZonMw aims to make better use of the knowledge generated in the ongoing biomedical funding rounds by encouraging collaboration between research projects.
A maximum grant amount of € 40,000 per application is expected to be available, for a duration of up to 12 months. The total budget available for this call for proposals is € 120,000.
Grants will be awarded in order of receipt of applications. The call for proposals will close once the funding ceiling has been reached.
Collaboration
This grant is exclusively available to researchers involved in projects awarded funding in either the first or second biomedical funding round of the ME/CFS Research Programme. Collaboration between at least 2 of these research projects is a requirement. Applications cannot be submitted for the collection of new data or biological samples, or for research focusing exclusively on a single project.
Expected timeline
The call for proposals is expected to open in December 2026. The exact conditions, grant amounts, procedures and deadlines will be announced when the call for proposals is published.
This advance announcement is subject to change. It is not yet possible to apply for a grant.
