The Antibiotic Resistance programme funds research designed to help fight antibiotic resistance and/or identify points of action for the development of new antibiotics or interventions. The ambition is to reduce antibiotic resistance within 5 years following publication of project results.
Only research within the following research areas is eligible for funding in this round:
Projects that include social and behavioural sciences and/or contribute to a One Health approach will get a higher priority in this round.
Research on new targets and alternatives for antibiotics will NOT be funded in this round. NWO TTW will be launching a new research programme on development of antibiotics and alternatives.

The aim of the call is to know more about what contributes to or hinders reduction and/or prevention of antibiotic resistance according to:
Social and behavioural sciences and/or contribute to a One Health approach are essential.
The programme funds projects that contribute to the reduction or prevention of antibiotic resistance. In this round projects that include social and behavioural sciences and/or contribute to a One Health approach will get a higher priority.
The call is open to
The total ZonMw programme budget is 16 million euros. Roughly 2.8 million euros will be available in this second round of the programme.
The maximum grant for this call will be €500,000 per project. ZonMw aims to evenly divide the available budget between five to six projects. Projects should last four years or less.
The closing date for applications is Tuesday April 4 2017, at 14.00 hrs CET. Applications must be submitted online in accordance with our guidelines, using ZonMw’s ProjectNet system.
