Activities such as voluntary work that bridge employment and retirement have been shown to enhance ones well-being and quality of life. ProMe seeks to provide meaningful opportunities for occupation in the transition from work to retirement and beyond. It is focused on professional intergenerational cooperation and mentoring via an online service platform, bringing older adults and younger generations together.
ProMe is based on theoretical concepts of mentoring, where older adults take an active role as a voluntary mentor and share their professional knowledge and expertise with younger generations, including those who are seeking career or more general life advice. The ProMe platform will provide for different functionalities (i.e., Video/Text-Chat, Email, Blogs, Forums, etc.) that enhance this professional sharing, covering different forms of mentoring roles.
