The ERANET project E-Rare (ERA-Net for Research Programmes on Rare Diseases) has organised a 2nd E-Rare Joint Transnational Call in 2009.
The aim of this call was to enable scientists in different countries to build effective collaborations on common interdisciplinary research projects on rare diseases based on complementarities and sharing of expertise.
Projects involved a group of rare diseases or a single rare disease following the European definition i.e. desease affecting not more than five in 10.000 persons in the European Community. Rare infectious diseases, rare cancers and rare adverse drug events in treatments of common diseases were excluded from the scope of this call.
The ten countries that have joined the 2nd E-Rare Transnational Call are: France, Germany, Israel, Spain, Turkey, The Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Austria and Greece.
After the scientific evaluation period the top 16 projects from the 137 eligible projects received a grant: 14 NL groups where granted collaborating in 9 projects.
