Effectiviteit en kosten-effectiviteit van screening op tuberculose bij immigranten

The project Effectiveness of screening on tuberculosis among immigrants aims to determine the coverage and yield of the present programme on tuberculosis screening of immigrants. It also aims to identify subgroups among tuberculosis source cases who generate many infections and secondary cases, and to determine the coverage and yield of screening among these. Results will be used to obtain consensus on the frequency and duration of screening. In the next project phase (not included here) this information will be used in a cost-effectiveness analysis. Activities of the current proposal include the establishment of a monitoring system on coverage and yield of screening and epidemiological research to determine risk factors for the infectiousness of source cases using DNA fingerprinting and contact investigations. The project is implemented by the Royal Netherlands Tuberculosis Association, the National Institute of Public Health and Environment, and Dept. of Public Health, Erasmus University.
