Healthy Storytelling for eHealth: Storytelling as a persuasive eHealth element to motivate people with low literacy skills for obesity prevention.
Projectomschrijving
Doel

Middle-aged people with low literacy skills have a severe risk for obesity development at a later stage of their life. One of the causes is their low health literacy since they face difficulties in understanding and acting upon medical information and eHealth communication. However, when medical information is communicated by stories, their health literacy, required to prevent obesity, improves. In the Healthy Storytelling project, we will research and design the potential of interactive storytelling for eHealth to include people with low literacy skills in eHealth and to increase their health literacy regarding obesity prevention. The project will result in tested interactive demonstrators, a theory, and a design method for applying storytelling in eHealth. The Healthy Storytelling project is strongly interdisciplinary organized, including creative industry, healthcare communication organizations and scientific researchers of design, storytelling, eHealth and obesity. To warrant user- and healthcare relevance, the project is structured as a co-creative research-through-design project involving user groups from the domains of obesity treatment, obesity patients, and people with low literacy skills.
