Local control of innate lymphoid cell activation by natural cytotoxicity receptors
Projectomschrijving
Our intestines are continuously harmed by external stimuli, i.e. food and bacteria. Specialised cells in the immune system, named innate lymphoid cells (ILC), are normally present to combat invading pathogens. These cells are key to keeping our intestinal barrier healthy. However, it is currently unknown how and when these cells become locally activated to initiate a program leading to the repair of the damaged intestinal cell wall.
