About this programme

The Bio Art & Design Award is a € 25.000 award for successful applicants to fully realize a new work of art or design that pushes the boundaries of research application and creative expression.
The Award aims to examine the social, cultural, and ethical contexts of the Life Sciences through the arts and promote interdisciplinary collaborations.

BAD Award Winners 2018:

  • Amanda Baum and Rose Leahy (UK) met 'Microbiocene: Ancient oozo to future myths', in collaboration with Koninklijk Nederlands Instituut voor Onderzoek der Zee (NIOZ).
  • Yiyun Chen (Ch) met  ‘Horizontal Living - long live in bed’, in collaboration with School of Nutrition and Translational Research in Metabolism (NUTRIM).
  • Ani Liu (USA) met ‘Data Veins & Flesh Voxels: a search for what is Human’, in collaboration with het Academisch Medisch Centrum (AMC) Amsterdam, afdeling Radiologie.
