As the Dutch research programme Electromagnetic Fields & Health is drawing to a close, ZonMw organized the symposium Electromagnetic Fields & Health. The symposium comprised of four main research areas, namely technology, biology, epidemiology and risk communication/sociology.
In these four sessions highlights of the research conducted within the Dutch programme was presented and placed in an international context by international experts. Keynote speaker prof. Elisabeth Cardis looked back and forward on the EMF field of research.
The symposium ended with a vibrant panel discussion. The overall conclusion was that after 10 to 20 years of research even among researchers there is still uncertainty about the effects of EMF on health. Considering the rapid development of EMF technologies, it is important to keep the EMF knowledge available and up-to-date. Therefore EMF research deserves our undiminished attention.
