ZonMw fosters the development of talented researchers to turn them into top-class researchers. Their talent will provide the foundation for innovative medical care in the future. The Clinical Fellowship is a prestigious individual grant, tailored to the specific circumstances of the recipient. These grants for scientific research have been awarded to medical specialists, community medical officers and general practitioners since 2000. The Clinical Fellowship follows on from the ZonMw Agiko stipend, which trains qualified doctors to become medical specialists, general practitioners, nurse practitioners or community medical officers, while at the same time giving them the opportunity to conduct PhD research. The programme is thus intended for clinical practitioners who are more or less at the beginning of their scientific career, rather than for ‘established investigators’. See also the programme information on Clinical Fellows. This programme is part of ZonMw’s Health Research Open Programme.
