This programme has three objectives:
The programme aims to generate knowledge about the positive and negative aspects of sport and physical activity. This involves three research priorities:
The programme consists of two sub-programmes. The first sub-programme is aimed at stimulating the research infrastructure. Existing research groups are strengthened through the appointment of professors and/or research staff. By fostering co-operation between these academic research groups, non-academic research groups and practice institutions, the programme attempts to limit the fragmentation of research. The second sub-programme covers research projects that address the programme priorities as set out above.
